Dear Appraiser:
This letter is to inform you that you have been placed on the Lender Selection
Roster of Appraisers (Roster) in the GRAND RAPIDS HUD Office. This will allow
any Direct Endorsement lender to select you to perform HUD appraisals. Our records
show the following information for you:

If any of the above information is not correct, please notify your HUD Home Ownership
Center (HOC), in writing, with the correct information. Also, it is your responsibility
to notify your HUD HOC when you renew your licenseor certification and providedocumentation
of the renewal. An appraiser cannot be selected by a lender from the Roster if
the appraiser's state license or certificate has expired and HUD has not been
notified of the renewal.
If you have not already done so, you must obtain a copy of HUD Handbook 4250
1 REV-1, Valuation Analysis for Home Mortgage Insurance, dated March 15, 1990
and read it in order to become knowledgeable of HUD appraisal requirements before
accepting any HUD appraisal request. A copy of this Handbook can be obtained
from HUD by writing to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, Printing
Branch, Room B-100, 451 7th Street SW, Washington DC 20410. (There is no charge
for this handbook.) You can alson fax your request to (202) 708-2313.
In addition, we strongly encourage that you attend a training session on HUD
Appraisal requirements either sponsored by HUD or by some other credible source,
such as a local appraiser trade organization. By obtaining training, you will
be more prepared to perform an appraisal that will meet HUD requirements. You
are reminded that the Ethics Provisions of the Uniform Standards of Professional
Appraisal Practice state that an appraiser must not accept an appraisal assignment
which the appraiser is not competent to perform.
